Trichomes solitary or grouped into small colonies enveloped by a fine mucilage, straight or slightly flexuous, moniliform, simple, usually short up, without firm sheaths. Cells spherical or barrel shaped; aerotopes, heterocysts, and akinetes absent. Reproduction by hormogonia.
